eBay Australia has announced a new pilot in partnership with Woolworths that allows eBay sellers to drop off parcels for delivery through participating Woolworths stores.
One year on from the launch of eBay and Woolworths’ click-and-collect partnership, the two businesses are piloting a parcel drop-off service to remove some of the friction experienced by smaller eBay sellers in the Australian market.
The service will enable local eBay sellers to drop off a sold item at a Woolworths store and have it shipped directly to the buyer. Delivery is based on a fixed-price model and is priced to compete with traditional shipping methods and speeds.
The pilot will also mean that sellers will be able to drop off packages at participating Woolworths stores seven days a week and outside of normal business hours. *Parcels however will only be shipped Monday to Friday
At this stage 5 stores in NSW have been selected for the pilot: Woolworths Lane Cove, Neutral Bay Village, Northbridge, Double Bay and Balgowlah.
To date, over 200,000 customers have picked up their eBay parcels in a store. Parcel drop-off is just another way we are able to help our customers with convenient solutions that suit their individual lifestyles.
CouriersPlease has been named as the delivery partner for the pilot.
What are your thoughts on this new service offered by eBay and Woolworths? Have you used it? Would you? Let’s share our experiences.
